The WAFS 104 is a thermal mass flow meter, based on its measurement principle it’s not required to compensate the compressed air pressure and temperature, so you do not need any additional measurement installations to measure the flow and the consumption.
Due to the thermal mass flow, the flow meter is also well suited to be used in any other gas as Nitrogen or many other technical gases. The WAFS 104 sensor technology offers you a high resolution and a high sampling rate, which results in a very fast and precise measurement.

What Flow Range and Accuracy Does the WAFS 104 Offer?
The WAFS 104 provides a wide flow measurement range of 0(0.1) to 250 Nm/s, making it suitable for different compressed air and industrial gas applications. The sensor offers an accuracy of ±(1% reading + 0.3% full scale), allowing users to monitor flow and consumption with consistent measurement performance.
The sensor also provides a sampling rate of 60 samples per minute and supports configurable reference conditions of 20°C and 1 bar(a) according to ISO 1217. These capabilities make the WAFS 104 suitable for applications where reliable flow data is required for monitoring and managing gas consumption.
How Can the WAFS 104 Be Used to Monitor Gas Consumption?
The WAFS 104 can be installed at individual machines or points of use to monitor gas consumption within an industrial facility. It can help users understand where compressed air or process gas is being consumed, making it suitable for machine-level monitoring, consumption analysis and gas leakage detection.
The sensor measures standard flow, mass flow and consumption and provides the measured information through its integrated display. For plant-level monitoring, the WAFS 104 also supports 4–20 mA, pulse output and RS485 Modbus RTU, allowing flow data to be connected to suitable monitoring or control systems.
How Is the WAFS 104 Installed in an Industrial Piping System?
The WAFS 104 uses an insertion-type installation design that allows the sensor to be positioned directly in the process pipe. It can be installed under pressure through a 1/2-inch ball valve, helping users install the flow sensor without requiring a complete shutdown of the compressed air or gas line when the installation conditions are suitable.
The sensor uses a G1/2″ process connection and is available with an anti-ejection design for insertion-type installation. The operating pressure range is specified as 0 to 5.0 MPa, while pressures above 1.6 MPa require the appropriate installation device. This makes correct installation and pressure conditions important when selecting the WAFS 104 for a plant application.

A thermal mass flow sensor measures gas flow by detecting heat transfer from a heated element. As compressed air flows past the sensor, it carries away heat proportional to the mass flow rate.
