Bi-directional flow measurement is essential for industrial applications where gas flow may occur in different directions during operation. The WiseAir WAFS-103D differential pressure Pitot tube flow sensor provides reliable flow measurement for wet, dirty and high-velocity gases across a wide operating range.

Designed with patented anti-condensation technology, the sensor can perform reliably under saturated conditions while maintaining stable and accurate measurement. It is suitable for compressed air and various industrial gases and can be used in demanding process environments. With online auto-calibration technology, the WAFS-103D supports long-term measurement stability and is suitable for both temporary and permanent flow measurement installations.

Bi-Directional Pitot tube flow meters are ideally suited to wet, dirty and high velocity gases. The extremely sensitive differential pressure measurement allows this sensor to be used over a wide flow range. The patented anti condensation technology enables the sensor to be used under saturated conditions and ensures the sensor will perform stable accurate measurements for years to come

Pitot tube flow sensor measures the upstream dynamic pressure and downstream static pressure. The pressure differential is a measure of the velocity and flow rate. Thanks to the online auto-calibration technology, high reliability, long-term measurement and accuracy can be guaranteed.

Pitot flow meters are widely used in industrial processes, chemical, petrochemical, power engineering, etc. Pitot Tube flow meters are ideal for both temporary or permanent installations.

 

How Does Bi-Directional Flow Measurement Work?

Bi-directional flow measurement uses the pressure difference created by moving gas to determine flow velocity and flow rate. In the WAFS-103D, the Pitot tube senses the upstream dynamic pressure and downstream static pressure. The resulting differential pressure provides the measurement needed to determine gas velocity and flow. This principle makes Pitot tube technology suitable for industrial environments where gases may be wet, dirty or moving at high velocities.

For applications that require dependable flow measurement over long periods, the WAFS-103D combines sensitive differential pressure measurement with online auto-calibration technology. This helps maintain measurement stability and accuracy during operation. The patented anti-condensation technology also allows the sensor to operate under saturated conditions, making it suitable for demanding industrial process applications.

Can the WAFS-103D Be Used for Compressed Air Flow Measurement?

Yes. The WAFS-103D is designed for compressed air flow measurement and can be used for both wet and dry air applications. Its ability to handle high gas velocities makes it suitable for monitoring compressed air systems, including compressor FAD measurement. The sensor can also be used with gases such as nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, helium, hydrogen, natural gas, nitrous oxide and oxygen.

The sensor is suitable for both temporary and permanent installations in industrial environments. Its anti-condensation and resistance technologies are designed to support reliable operation where moisture, particles, oil and other process-related contaminants may be present. This makes the WAFS-103D a practical option for flow measurement in demanding applications across industrial processes, chemical, petrochemical and power engineering environments.

What Flow Range and Pipe Sizes Does the WAFS-103D Support?

The WAFS-103D supports a flow velocity range of 5 to 100 Nm/s, with a pressure range of 0 to 16 bar and process temperatures from -40°C to +200°C. The sensor is available for pipe sizes from DN 25 to DN 300, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial piping applications. Flow accuracy is specified as ±(1% of reading + 0.3% of full scale).

For system monitoring, the sensor provides flow, consumption, pressure, temperature and velocity parameters. It supports 4–20 mA and pulse outputs as well as RS485 Modbus/RTU communication. A 2.8-inch LCD touch display and data logger with storage for up to 10,000,000 samples are also available, helping users monitor and record process data effectively.
