DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE PITOT TUBE FLOW METER

The WAFS 103 Differential Pressure Pitot Tube flow meter is based on the pitot tube principle to measure the flow in your compressed air system. The sensor can measure in wet and dirty gases. It can be installed under pressure and measures flow, pressure, temperature, and total flow simultaneously.

The sensor features long term stability, wide turn-down ratio and good temperature stability. It can be used in compressed air and non-corrosive gases. Through a 1/2” G-type ball valve the sensor can be inserted into the pipe under pressure and Various output signals allow the sensor to be connected to the Energy Management System (EMS) or Building Management System (BMS).


How Does the WAFS 103 Pitot Tube Flow Meter Work?

The WAFS 103 works on the pitot tube flow meter principle by measuring the pressure difference created when compressed air moves through the pipeline. The sensor detects the pressure conditions of the flowing air and uses the differential pressure to determine flow velocity and flow rate.

As an insertion-type flow sensor, the WAFS 103 is installed into the existing pipeline rather than requiring a separate full-bore flow-meter section. It can be inserted through a 1/2-inch G-type ball valve on a pressurised line, following the specified installation procedure. This makes it suitable for plants where shutting down the compressed-air system for flow measurement is not practical.

The sensor can measure flow and total consumption, while the standard options can also provide pressure and temperature measurements. These values can be used by maintenance and energy teams to monitor compressed-air demand, evaluate compressor performance and identify changes in consumption.

The WAFS 103 is specified for flow measurement from 5 to 300 Nm/s and supports pipe sizes from DN 25 to DN 300. Available analog and RS485 Modbus/RTU outputs allow the measured data to be connected to plant monitoring, Energy Management or Building Management systems.

Can the WAFS 103 Measure Wet and Dirty Compressed Air?

The WAFS 103 is designed to measure wet and dry compressed air, making it suitable for industrial compressed-air systems where moisture or contamination may be present. Its patented anti-condensation technology supports reliable measurement under these conditions. This makes the sensor suitable for applications such as compressor FAD measurement and compressed-air consumption monitoring.

The WAFS 103 can also measure selected non-corrosive gases, including air, argon, carbon dioxide, helium, hydrogen, natural gas, nitrogen, nitrous oxide and oxygen, subject to the applicable operating conditions and configuration. The sensor supports operating pressures up to 16 bar and can measure flow, consumption, pressure and temperature.
