WAFS 107 – Thermal Mass Flow Measurement

Downloads

The WAFS 107 is designed for thermal mass flow measurement in industrial air and gas piping systems where engineers need flow, mass flow, consumption and temperature information from the same instrument. As an inline thermal mass flow sensor, it is available for standard industrial pipe sizes from DN15 to DN80, with R thread, EN1092-1 flange and ANSI/B16.5 connection options.

For plant engineers and maintenance teams, the value of the WAFS 107 is not simply measuring flow at one point. The instrument can help establish how much compressed air is moving through a particular line and how consumption changes during production. This can support equipment-level monitoring, utility management and investigation of unexpected changes in air demand.

How Does the WAFS 107 Measure Air Flow?

The WAFS 107 uses thermal mass flow measurement to monitor the flow of air through the pipeline without moving mechanical parts. Its digital signal processing is designed to provide a stable measurement signal and a wider measuring range compared with traditional analogue bridge designs. This is useful in industrial environments where vibration and long-term operating conditions can affect conventional measurement equipment.

The meter measures standard flow, mass flow, consumption and temperature, allowing engineers to look at both the immediate flow condition and accumulated air usage. Standard communication includes an RS485 Modbus RTU interface, along with 4–20 mA current and pulse outputs for integration with plant monitoring or control systems.

What Pipe Sizes and Connections Does the WAFS 107 Support?

The inline WAFS 107 is available for DN15, DN20, DN32, DN40, DN50, DN65 and DN80 pipe sizes. Connection options include R thread, EN1092-1 flange and ANSI/B16.5 flange arrangements. This gives engineers several options when matching the flow sensor to an existing air distribution line.

The standard configuration is intended for compressed air and has a stated accuracy of 1.5% with a pressure rating of 0–16 bar. Before selection, the actual pipe size, operating pressure, connection requirement and measurement point should be checked so the instrument configuration matches the plant installation.

Where Can the WAFS 107 Be Used in a Compressed-Air System?

The WAFS 107 can be used on suitable compressed-air lines where continuous flow and consumption information is required. Typical monitoring points may include equipment supply lines, production-area distribution lines and other sections where engineers need to understand air demand.

Having flow information closer to the point of use can make troubleshooting more practical. If consumption changes without a corresponding change in production, the recorded measurement can help the maintenance team identify where further investigation is required. Bluetooth functionality is also available for wireless sensor configuration and data transmission where the selected configuration supports it.
